Over the 100 hours of research I conducted on clinics outside the U.S. and within, I started scraping the best questions patients asked (and wished they asked) before they committed to a surgeon.
I will not hide this - there are clinics referred to as 'Hair Mills' that run numerous surgeries for revenue optimization, that are very cheap. Do not fall into this trap. Focus on conducting and documenting thorough research to find the best hair transplant clinic for your needs, or, I can show you the shortcut.
Here are some primary questions you should ask each hair transplant clinic to ensure that they are a legitimate entity to provide this surgery:
Can you provide me with your medical license and credentials?
How many years of experience do you have in performing hair transplants?
How many total hair surgeries have you done? What is the success rate of your hair transplant procedures?
What type of hair transplant procedures do you offer?
How many surgeries does the clinic perform each day? THIS IS KEY. If they have a surgeon doing more than 1-2 per day, remove from your list immediately. Quality over Quantity: Avoid clinics that offer multiple surgeries per day or those that prioritize quantity over quality. This is a sign of a hair mill, which focuses more on maximizing profits than providing quality care to patients.
What type of anesthesia do you use during the procedure? THIS IS KEY. Local anesthesia is the most optimal, least intrusive.
How many supports staff (mechanics, nurses, assistants) do you have working on one patient? Is the main surgeon there from start to finish? Personal Attention: Choose a clinic that provides personalized attention to each patient, with a surgeon who performs the entire procedure from start to finish.
What are the potential risks and complications associated with the procedure?
How long is the recovery time, and what precautions should I take before / after the surgery?
What are the total costs associated with the hair transplant procedure, including follow up visits, supplies, prescriptions. Transparent Cost: Be cautious of clinics that offer hair transplant procedures at significantly lower prices than others - YOU SHOULD NOT BE PAYING LESS THAN $2k / surgery, OR more than $7k / surgery in Turkey. Make sure the costs are transparent and include all necessary fees, follow-up visits, and potential revisions.
Will you providing hotel accommodations, transportation services to-and-from the hotel and clinic pre-and-post surgery?
What post operative care and steps do you take after my visit? Choose a clinic that provides comprehensive follow-up care and support after the surgery. This includes regular check-ups and post-operative care instructions.
These are just some of the questions you might ask to ensure that you are choosing a reputable and qualified hair transplant clinic for your journey to Istanbul, Turkey.
